Review manager permissions and team scope

Review role defaults, individual exceptions and the current-direct-report scope.

For HR administrator

Where to start

  • Open Manage → More → Manager permissions.

What to do

  1. 01

On Android, open Role defaults to review the permissions applying to all workspace line managers. Access applies to current direct reports; HR workspace-wide access is separate.

  2. 02

Open Managers and select the intended manager to inspect effective access and its source. Individual exceptions take precedence over role defaults.

  3. 03

Choose Edit permissions. Role access uses Allow or Block; an individual permission uses Use role default, Allow exception or Block exception.

  4. 04

Record a reason for an exception and an expiry where appropriate. When an exception expires, the role default applies again. Read the impact of elevated permissions before granting them.

  5. 05

Choose Review changes, check the affected manager and permissions, tick the approval confirmation and choose Confirm only for the authorised change.

  6. 06

Reopen the settings to verify saved access. Use Access review to inspect the schedule and history; expired exceptions and missing reasons must be resolved before certification.

What happens next

The recorded permissions govern the permitted team actions. Certification records a review and next review date; it is not a replacement for checking each access grant.

If you need help

A missing tool may reflect role, permission or current team scope. Do not grant HR access merely to reveal a menu. If certification is unavailable, review expired exceptions and missing reasons first.

Is manager access the same as HR access?

No. Manager scope and HR workspace access are separate.
